Measuring in Non Standard units of measure

Today we esimated and then we had to measure objects around the classroom using non standard units. The units we used were ice block sticks and blocks. Cory and kihau found out the desk was 30 cubes long which was 5 more than their estimate.

Ballon Rockets

We made some fantastic balloon rockets. Some worked better than others but everyone had fun testing them. We found the rockets could go straight up if there was enough air in the balloon. Everyone then wrote some awesome procedures on how to make a balloon rocket.

Life Education bus - Our bodies

We all had such fun at the Life Education Bus. We learnt some amazing facts about our bodies and which systems control different things, aswell as what some of our organs do. Pip and harold did a great job in a very cool mobile classroom. The children loved how interactive it was.

De-husking Hazelnuts

Last term we were very busy de-husking hazelnuts. Room 1 went and collected the hazelnuts with Mrs Petterson. Then the whole school worked hard to take off the husks so the nuts could be dried, ready to be sold for our fundraiser. It was a bit of a dirty job but everyone got stuck in to get the gob done.

Rugby with room 4 and 1

We were very lucky to have Morgan Mitchel from the Southland stags come to school to do some training and skill activities with us.  Room 1 and 4 did this together. Here are some action  shots from our session. Everyone did really well!

Last week of term fun

We had lots of fun during our final week at school last term. Painting,  water balloon target throwing,  gardening,  tennis and cup staking. Here are some photos of the fun.
